Town Hall Live Sessions

I’ve heard of you, what you can do You make something beautiful Out of the things left behind By those taken before their time I can’t throw out that bag of wool So make of it what you will It sits upstairs gathering dust My memories slowly rust Please take it away All the words I didn’t say All the anger deep inside me And weave it masterfully I want it blue like denim Green as the ocean Red for the colour in the sky Yellow like the candle That flickers with the notion Brown for the truth in her eyes Your hands they touch a thousand dreams I see the lines across the years Wounded hearts so much thought lost How can you bear the cost? Please take it away All the words I didn’t say All the anger deep inside me And weave it masterfully I want it blue like denim...

My home is a cathedral filled with giant, gypsum crystals Trapped inside and latent, waiting quietly and patient For 60,000 years I’ve been, the hottest of degrees I’ve felt Eating all the iron and sulfur, manganese and copper oxide Oxide, oxide, oxide You’re travelling to other planets, exploring and you’re taking samples Flying back with vessels filled with alien soil and metals As you cheer those on their return, their contribution to you all You won’t see all you’ve brought back, you won’t know what you have lacked Oxide, oxide, oxide, oxide, oxide, oxide, oxide The gift of life can give and it can take away the gift of love is life but who’s is it, who can say?

I see my family tree how it sprouts and grows/Then unnaturally it withers and slows/Some branches fall when they're ready to die, others are cut back in their prime/Some branches fall when they're ready to die, others are cut back in their prime My eyes hurt as I try to read every name/Every date of birth and final resting place/My fingers trace along the page as I imagine the choices and the games they played/My fingers trace along the page as I imagine the choices and the games they played Like trying to hold back a dam with one hand or count on the beach every grain of sand/It's a flood of voices we can't hear them all, we're gonna get washed away gonna get washed gonna get washed away Neither here nor there, a start, middle or an end/Can't see the forest for the trees it's always just around the bend/I see you in my sisters hair, when I look in the mirror I see you there/I see you in my sisters hair, when I look in the mirror I see you there Like trying to hold back...
4.
I have a galaxy in my back yard/I go outside and I can see the stars/I hung up the fairy lights from nail to hook/to remind me to remember to always look/I counted the stars in the sky/I counted them by hand and by eye/I tallied them up and subtracted, divided and multiplied/Mathematics seemed my only friend/But I could divine the heavens/I discovered there weren’t nearly enough for it all to stay together/How do we stay together?/How do we hold together?/How do we stay together?/I rotate and I collide/I make mistakes but I'll survive/Comets shoot and meteors soar/Women work and we explore/She counted the stars/She counted them by hand and by eye/She tallied them up and subtracted, divided and multiplied/Mathematics seemed her only friend/But she could divine the heavens/She discovered there weren’t nearly enough for it all to stay together/How do we stay together?/How do we hold together?/How do we stay together?/ It pushes you down, immutable as gravity/But the universe is more than you’ll ever see/ It pushes you down, immutable as gravity/But the universe is more than you’ll ever see/I counted the stars in the sky…
